Six South Africans are still missing since disaster struck at the Nepal-Tibet border.
Zama J. Sibisi, Mayor of the Alfred Duma Municipality, sent a message of solidarity and support to affected families, who are also Ladysmith residents.
The missing four of the six, are Surendranath Maharaj, Anitha Devi Maharaj, Vivaganthan Pillay and Janett Pillay.
They were at a pilgrimage in Nepal when the devastating floods struck.
The incident occurred when a massive ice, rock, and mud, collapsed into the river system, triggering the incident.
Sibisi said “our thoughts and prayers are with the families who are facing the pain and uncertainty of not knowing the whereabouts of their loved ones. We can only imagine the anguish they are experiencing at this difficult time.”
Authorities in Nepal reported an increase in the death toll to 750.
