The Global Seismic Report, released on Tuesday, the 21st October 2025, revealed  there were at least 230 earthquakes in key regions of the world, in the last 24 hours.

The strongest was in the Scotia Sea region (M 6.6), others were along the Pacific Ring of Fire, including Alaska / U.S. West Coast, Chile, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

At least three earthquakes have struck Japan, this month alone.

The latest, on Wednesday, the 22nd October,  near Nemuri, Hokkaido, was measured at 5.5 on the Richter scale, struck off Hokkaido. 

The Embassy of Singapore in Tokyo, said there was no major damage reported as a result of today’s quake and no tsunami warning was issued. 

An even stronger one, recorded at 6.0, was earlier this month, 06 October, which struck the eastern coast of Honshu.

Researchers of the report, gave preparedness tips to residents ahead of earthquakes: “Secure heavy furniture, identify a safe “drop–cover–hold” spot at home, keep a flashlight and water kit ready, and review your family emergency contacts.”
