City Power has lodged a court interdict against the Hawks (Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation) pertaining to an unlawful execution of a search warrant issued on the 17 September 2025.
The local power utility is hoping to get back material seized during the raid.
Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson of City Power, said the Hawks had until the end of Tuesday, to indicate whether they will be opposing the interdict.
“It’s important to highlight that City Power is not opposed to lawful investigations, and in fact, we have expressed our willingness to fully cooperate with the investigation and have been doing so since November 2024 when the investigations started. Our contention is that the manner in which the Hawks have conducted themselves is contrary to its established processes and their own procedures” said Mangena.
The matter will be heard in the Johannesburg High Court in Johannesburg, on the 07 October 2025.
