A new entity was launched on Friday, in EMfuleni, to secure water supply for the area.
It is a partnership between Rand Water Services (Pty) Ltd and Emfuleni’s Metsi-a-Lekwa water and sanitation unit.
Speaking at the launch of the entity (Special Purpose Vehicle), David Mahlobo, Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, said this new venture is a decisive step towards restoring reliable water and sanitation services in the Emfuleni Local Municipality.
It is an independent entity, expected to take full responsibility for managing and maintaining all water and sanitation systems across the municipality.
During the launch, Mahlobo spoke sternly against vandalism and criminality targeting water infrastructure. He said these acts directly undermine progress and community wellbeing.
