About 158 homes were damaged in the Jozini floods, north of KwaZulu Natal (KZN).
Of these, 70 homes were utterly destroyed.
Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), said although the damage was extensive, there are no reported casualties.
The P449 Road or the Jozini Dam Road, was also damaged and is now using just one lane for motorists.
During his visit, Buthelezi went to see the Hlengethwa family whose home was submerged during the floods.
Maningi Hlengethwa and her three children are staying with relatives after losing most of their belongings.
The Department of Human Settlements is expected to guide the process of providing Temporary Residential Units (TRUs) for displaced families.
