A rare visitor – a female crabeater beached in Cape Town this week.

Conservationists including the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation are urging members of the public to give her space.

“She does not need rescuing. She just needs space, calm, and respect” wrote the Foundation, on its various social contact platforms.

She travelled over 4,500km from Antarctica to South African waters.

The Foundation asked visitors to stay at least  20m away from her, respect cordoned areas and not to keep pouring water over her.

In addition, visitors do well by keeping dogs away from her and also by keeping their voices down.
