Test results of water in Sisonke Street, part of Ivory Park’s Extension 9, near Midrand, prove drink water is contaminated.
Johannesburg Water (JW) has urged residents not to drink that water.
JW said it received numerous complaints from residents on Friday, the 24th of February, concerning discoloured water flowing out of taps.
Subsequent to testing the water, JW said its teams would begin work to reconstruct and realign a pipeline, to divert it away from a sewer discharge.
Once completed, the pipeline will be washed and more tests conducted, to ensure compliance with drinking water standards.
Affected areas will be supplied by water tanks.
