Authorities of the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality, are counting costs of Wednesday’s flash floods.
Tourism establishments in Carolina were affected, including Forever Resort Badplaas.
The pools, slides and Hydro are temporarily closed, as a result.
The Chief Albert Luthuli Local Tourism Organisation (CALTO), said on Thursday, “we are heartbroken by the recent flash floods that have affected Forever Resort Badplaas. We stand in full solidarity with the resort and remain committed to supporting recovery efforts in every way we can.
We also call on our community to come together – whether through kind words, sharing resources, or helping rebuild. Tourism in our region is resilient, but it thrives on collaboration and care.”
The Municipality said water pumps were submerged, leaving various areas high and dry.
This includes Emanzana, Tjakastad, Eerstehoek and Ekulindeni.
Phetla Thapelo, Spokesperson of the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, said water tankers would be deployed to affected areas.
He also urged residents in affected areas to boil water prior to consumption.
