The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department advised motorists to avoid the R550 on Sunday, due to an ongoing protest.
The R550 road in Tsietsi is currently barricaded with stones and burning tyres.
As a result, Phases 5 and 6 are currently affected.
Residents want the Municipality to electrify their informal settlements.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department POPS Unit, as well as the South African Police Service, are at the scene, monitoring the situation.
