More than 70 suspects, were arrested for illegal mining, at Bundu Inn in Mohlakeng, West Rand District, on Friday.
Police said there were about seven females among the lot.
Police also said they seized some 20 generators, and confiscated over 100 bags of gold-bearing material.
The arrest was conducted by a multidisciplinary operation, including the Gauteng Police and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
