The death toll rose to 78 in India’s monsoon floods this week.

The National Disaster Management Authority said the northeastern state of Assam, was the worst affected.

Over 300,000 residents were affected and hundreds of homes were left submerged.

Some rivers are overflowing, such as the Brahmaputra River.

Landslides disrupted over 100 roads, at the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, leading to temporary closure of schools in parts of Himachal Pradesh.

India’s meteorological department recorded 741mm in 36 states, between 01 June and 29 July 2026.
