Nahoon beach was temporarily closed on Thursday, following heavy downpours.
The Buffalo City Municipality said this week’s heavy rains significantly impacted the Nahoon River.
As a result, large volumes of water hyacinth washed onto the Beach, along with dead animals, debris, and solid waste.
Moreover, there was a dangerous rip current on Thursday, making swimming unsafe.
The Municipality also said the beach would remain closed while cleanup operations get underway.
Once completed, it will be reopened to members of the public.
Residents and visitors are urged to respect the closure and avoid entering the beach or the water during this period.
