The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said allegations of an oil spill on the N2 at the Kei Cuttings, are unfounded.

Unathi Binqose, Spokesperson of the Department, took to social media platforms to clarify that “such claims should not be presented as facts without proper verification and supporting evidence.”

He continued to say “the Department is particularly concerned about the potential impact of unfounded allegations on its working relationship with breakdown operators, who remain an important stakeholder in the management of incidents and the restoration of safe traffic flow on our roads.”

He further urged all stakeholders and road users to refrain from making or circulating unsubstantiated allegations that may unfairly damage the reputation of individuals or service providers and undermine constructive working relationships.
