A fire broke out on the mountain slopes above Simondium in the Cape Winelands, on Friday afternoon.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services confirmed the fire was active just after 19:30.
The Municipality also said several teams joined its own, on the fire line, including from the NCC, Cape Nature, the Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS), the Winelands FPA and landowners.
Strong winds remain a concern, but firefighting is expected to continue into the night.
