A woman was killed by a fire at the SWAPO Informal Settlement, in Copesville -Pietermaritzburg.
Her partner and child sustained serious wounds.
About fourteen informal homes were utterly destroyed by the fire, which broke out in the early hours on Saturday morning, around 3:30 am.
They were taken to the hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.
Siboniso Duma, MEC of Transport and Human Settlements in KwaZulu Natal, said he assigned a team to work with Umsunduzi Municipality to assist the affected community.
