Mteto Nyati, Chairperson of the Eskom Board, is expected to step down.
Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Minister of Electricity and Energy, is expected to announce a plan for the state utility’s board.
Nyathi has been Chairperson of the Eskom Board since 2023.
He was at the helm, when Eskom ended load shedding and begun reporting profits.
He has held multiple senior positions before, such as CEO of MTN South Africa, Altron, and Microsoft South Africa.
He received an Honorary Fellowship from the South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE) in August 2026, for his contributions to infrastructure capability and institutional renewal.
