The City of Cape Town and the Provincial Government are engaging the taxi organisation, SANTACO and its members, to return full services.

This emerged on Thursday, when Rob Quintas, MMC of Urban Mobility in the City, visited one of the taxi ranks, to reassure commuters that talks are underway to ensure that all other modes of transport were operating as normal.

Earlier this week, one of the taxi organisations allegedly involved in violence, withdrew its taxis and sent them back home.

SANTACO leadership with the City, are discussing recent taxi-related violence and shootings involving the CATA (Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association) and CODETA (Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association).

Quintas said via social media platforms “earlier this evening, I was at the Cape Town Station Deck watching minibus operations resume and engaging commuters.”
