Upgrades to improve the Mitchell Park Zoo, in Durban, are well underway, to refurbish the 100 year old facility.
The Park Zoo is temporarily closed, since April, to allow maintenance work, due to significant damage caused by recent floods.
It is home to 701 animals and 91 species.
These animals are cared for seven days a week by a dedicated team of animal keepers, who feed them and clean their enclosures.
The date of the reopening of the facility is still unknown.
