A 1.2-metre Mozambique Spitting Cobra was discovered in a house, on Tuesday.

Nkosinathi Ndaba, Area Manager of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called to the site to relocate the animal.

Ndaba said the snake was in the Estupha area, in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), all coiled up beneath an old metal roofing sheet.

He captured it and relocated it to a safer environment.

KZN has the most snake species in biodiverse South Africa. The Mozambique cobra is common on the eastern parts of the country, in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, north eastern Botswana and northern Namibia.
