The Development Bank of Southern Africa, the Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) and PROPARCO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 25 years of collaboration.

This partnership will work on climate finance and green infrastructure, support to municipalities and state-owned enterprises.

They will also work together towards private sector development, the Just Transition Financing Mechanisms and nature-related investments, to protect biodiversity.

Speaking at the signing this week, Boitumelo Mosaka, CEO of DBSA, said “this renewed partnership, marks an important milestone in our shared commitment to sustainable development across Africa. By aligning our resources around climate finance, infrastructure and nature-positive investment, we amplify our impact and deepen our responsibility to the communities we serve.”

Francoise Lombard, CEO of Proparco, agreed, and added “as a subsidiary of the AFD Group, Proparco, is pleased to strengthen our partnership with DBSA, in support of impact finance in South Africa and across the region, unlocking new opportunities in renewable energy, social housing and infrastructure.”
