A third chopper is out to rescue people stranded in floodwaters in Mbawula Village, part of the Mopani District.
A woman was rescued from a tree yesterday, where she sought refuge.
Another devastating incident, was the death of a four -year old, who also died, in Mbawula, when his mom was trying to cross a river, and slipped and fell into the water.
President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the area, where he assessed the devastating effects of the floods at Mbawula village, including the tragic loss of a four-year-old boy’s life.
In addition, the Mopani District Municipality notified residents that the water treatment plants in the District packed up, due to floods.
This has affected areas supplied by Giyani, Nkowankowa, Tours, Thapane, Phalaborwa and Nkambako Water Treatment Plants.
