Boikie Monareng, the athlete who is raising funds for school uniforms and township sports development, has announced he will be taking a break over the festive season.
Monareng entered the Northern Cape, with his wheelbarrow, on Monday, having walked from Musina, since the 11th November 2025.
He announced his break is related to busy traffic flow associated with this season.
“To everyone who has been following and supporting the Run Boikie Run Campaign, thank you for the love, encouragement, and belief in this journey. I would like to share that we intentionally paused the campaign during the festive season. This decision was made because this period comes with high traffic volumes and increased road accident risks, and my safety is a priority. For this reason, the team and I agreed that it was best to take me off the road temporarily.”
The Run Boikie Run Campaign is expected to resume in January.
He is expected to arrive in Cape Town in January 2026, where he will rest for a week, before making a return trip to Musina by bicycle.
In total, he is expected to have walked and cycled over 3,600 kilometres, setting a new record.
