Cagliari, the capital city of an Italian island of Sardinia, is some 32mm of water under, following heavy rains since Wednesday.

Rains began  in the northern part of the island, and moved aggressively towards the South, affecting Cagliari, Sestu, Selargius, Quartu and Monserrato

Streets are reportedly under water and rains transformed areas in Sestu, Pirri,and Via Riu Mortu and Quartu. 

The Department of Civil Protection issued an Orange alert for Thursday, October 16, in Calabria and central and southern Puglia. 

A yellow alert was also issued in Molise, Basilicata, Sicily, and parts of Sardinia, Campania, Abruzzo, Lazio, and the rest of Puglia.
