Water levels in dams of the Gert Sibande District, dipped slightly, to land at a collective 93.1% mark.
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) expressed concern about only one dam- Westoe which dropped from 66.1% to 64.4%.
The Grootdraai Dam dropped from 94.8% to 94.2%, Nooitgedacht Dam from 93.2% to 93.1%, Vygeboom Dam from 98.5% to 97.8% and Jericho from 90.8% to 90.0%.
Morgenstond and Heyshope dams are above 100% in the district.
The Vaal Dam is also at 101.60% capacity, with an inflow of 22.647, as of Thursday, the 23rd October 2025.
On the contrary, dam levels further down the coast, at the George Dam are strained at a level of 60,03 %.
Authorities said in a regular update, last week’s rainfall of 11,5 milliliters, between the 14 – 20 October 2025, is expected to make a slight contribution.
Not the case, in the rest of the Western Cape, where key dams forming part of the Western Cape Water Supply System, are at a collective 89,2%.
Berg River (99,8%), Steenbras Lower (91,6%), Steenbras Upper (98,9%), Theewaterskloof (82,6%), Voëlvlei (99,1%) and Wemmershoek (84,8%).
Other provincial dams, as of the 20th of October 2025, were at 77,7% in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu Natal (93,7%), Limpopo (81,2 %), the Northern Cape (90,7%), the North West (89,7%) and the Free State (96,9%)
