Eskom said its Energy Availability Factor (EAF) has risen from 56.03% to 64.55%, despite plans of load reduction, this week.
Load reduction is expected to affect mostly areas South of Gauteng.
In addition to a healthy EAF, planned maintenance reached a high of 12.76% in Financial Year (FY) 2025.
The Unplanned Capacity Loss Factor (UCLF) declined from 31.92% to 16.02%.
Dan Marokane, Eskom Group Chief Executive, said “the big picture through the peaks and troughs of delivering the Generation Recovery Plan is that Eskom has moved from a heavily constrained power system to an increasingly stable one, a power system that can reliably deliver 24/7, 365 baseload power. We will now maintain and build upon these early gains through a rigorous focus on operational reliability and sustainability. Load reduction kicking in on Monday, the 12th January 2026, is expected to affect Rethabiseng, Kudube, Moroka, Dhlamini, Klipspruit, Khutsong, Tsakane Ext 1, 8, 11, 12, Dobsonville & Ext 5,7; Naledi; Mabopane C, E, U, W, V, X; Emdeni & Ext 2; Jabulani; Zola; Tsakane Ext 15,18.
On Tuesday, the 13th January 2026, the following areas will be affected: Orange Farm Ext 1–4, 7–8; Stretford Ext 2–10; Sharpeville; Tshepiso; Elandsfontein AH; Evaton Central; Zonkizizwe; Katlehong South; Moleleki; Magagula Heights, Vosloorus A, B; Vosloorus Ext 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 16, 31, 32; Mabuya Park A & B; Moleleki; Ap Khumalo; Ramakonopi East; Mokoena; Moseleke; Hlongwane; Radebe & Sali, Tsakane Ext 5 & 11; Mabopane U, B, U Ext 1; Odinburg Gardens; Winterveldt Ext 3; Ward 9 & 11; Ramakonopi East; Diepsloot; Mathibestad; Vryburg.
