The cause of a fire at the Paarl Provincial Hospital is under investigation.
The Drakenstein Municipality said in an update, its Fire and Rescue Services responded to a call about the fire at around 11:17am, on Tuesday, the 27 January 2026.
The blaze was contained by midday, and patients on the ground, first, and second floors, were safely evacuated.
Stephen Korabie, the Mayor, said the Municipality’s Fire and Rescue teams, traffic, law enforcement officers and the South African Police Service, were on the scene.
Some sources claim a man set a car on fire, following a heated argument with a security guard.
