Flare ups at Pearly Beach and Stanford in the Western Cape burnt out of control on Wednesday afternoon.
The Municipality’s Dean O’Neill, said in a statement, two Huey helicopters were active at Witvoetskloof, and the Oryx helicopter at Byeneskrans in Pearly Beach.
Wemmershoek, Franschhoek
The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) Fire Services said an active fire line above Mont Rochelle, in Wemmershoek, was suppressed.
One ground team is working along the fire line above the Fisantekraal area where terrain allows access.
This, as the fire line above Stettynskloof Dam, has moved downslope but continues to burn in inaccessible areas.
The Municipality said rain forecast for Wednesday’s evening, is expected to help extinguish the fire.
Another fire in the Winelands, is at the Retreat Farm, McGregor.
Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM)
The wildfire at the Swartberg Pass remains contained near infrastructure, but is burning on the northern and upper slope of the mountain.
The Municipality said a monitoring team from the Central Karoo District Municipality is tracking fire progress while a Working of Fire (GRDM) crew is positioning to implement counter measures.
Firefighters include GRDM, CapeNature, Working on Fire (GRDM), Oudtshoorn Municipality and Central Karoo District Municipality.
