A multi police team arrested a gang targeting luxury-watch owners on Wednesday.
The police said in a statement, they saw a Hyundai Accent with false registration plates traveling in Centurion and observed the occupants following an unsuspecting family.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled at high speed and were brought to a halt in a nearby veld.
Two suspects were arrested, and a search of the vehicle yielded two unlicensed firearms, ammunition, hand-gloves, false plates, and several cellphones.
The suspects are expected to appear at a Magistrate’s Court.
The police team was made up of SAPS Counter-Intelligence, Gauteng TRT, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, Provincial Tracking Team 2, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, and Wierdabrug police.
