Hundreds of stranded hikers, trapped in snow, are being rescued from the Eastern Kangshung side of Mount Everest.

Snow is reportedly blocking the access to the mountain, at around 4,000 metres.

When the rains began bashing the area on Friday, about 350 trekkers walked to a small township of Qudang, according to media reports in China.

The Tibet Autonomous Region Emergency Command and Blue Sky Rescue Team, have been assisting hikers with daily supplies, and locals.
