There is interrupted water and electricity supply in Yeoville and surrounding areas.
Johannesburg Water (JW) said this is due to a burst in a pipe on the main supply line feeding the Yeoville Reservoir.
Nombuso Shabalala, Spokesperson of JW said customers in the area may be experiencing low water pressure or a complete loss of water, due to the incident. But repairs would require electricity supply to be switched off from 22h00 on Friday evening.
This is because the damaged water pipe is located very close to high-voltage underground electricity cables.
“This temporary power interruption is therefore a critical safety measure to protect workers and prevent further damage to essential infrastructure” she said.
Affected areas are Yeoville, Grafton Road, Fortesque Street and Harley Street.
Areas without water are Yeoville, Bellevue, Observatory, Linksfield, Berea, Doornfontein, Jeppestown, Fairview, Troyville, parts of Kensington, Braamfontein, Parktown, Johannesburg CBD, Newtown, Selby, Forest Hill, Turffontein, Rosettenville, La Rochelle, Turf Club, Kenilworth, Glenesk, Regents Park and Village Deep.
The exact time for full restoration cannot yet be confirmed.
