Parts of Pretoria East are in the dark, following an explosion of a transformer at the Zwartkop substation, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Areas affected are those supplied by the Lyttelton Line, Wingate, Aries and de Hoewes substations.
The City of Tshwane said its teams were dispatched to the scene and have thus far energised at least three of the substations.
Work continues in the Zwartkop substation although restoration time is not yet known.
