Mbongeni Sikhakhane, Provincial Chairperson of the African Farmers Association of South Africa (AFASA), in KwaZulu Natal (KZN), was gunned down over the weekend.
AFASA said the organisation is still shocked.
Dr Siyabonga Madlala, the Executive Chairman of AFASA, said “it is concerning to see this kind of brutality being meted out to farmers who work selflessly and tirelessly, to provide jobs, support local economies, drive enterprise development…”
Madlala also said in a statement on Tuesday, AFASA joins others, calling for stringent measures to ensure rural safety.
He also sent condolences to the Sikhakhane family.
