President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled a ten point plan, at an National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Bosksburg, on Monday.
Part of the plan is to install 14,500 kilometers of new transmission lines to the grid, and offer preferential electricity tariffs to ferrochrome, manganese and steel companies.
Ramaphosa said, in a bid to strengthen freight and logistics, a recovery plan will be implemented for state transport company-Transnet, and public sector involvement encouraged in rail and port operations.
Another intervention is to build capacity within the state to better manage large infrastructure projects, while ramping up the re-skilling of artisans and other technical skills.
Some analysts and economists have supported the plan, including Sandile Swana, from COBIT Consulting, who said it could possibly revive the economy. But others such as Dr. Iraj Abedian, of the Investment Research Servicces, said too little, too late.
