An enquiry into the malfunctioning municipalities of the Northern Cape, is well underway at the Protea Hotel, in Kimberley, from Tuesday, the 07 until the 09th October 2025.

The SAHRC aims to assess the systemic state of service delivery across municipalities in the province, as well as investigate the root causes of the deterioration in service delivery.

Over the years, the Commission has received an increasing number of service delivery complaints from communities across the province, covering critical issues such as the failure to provide potable water and sanitation services, ongoing sewer spillages and treatment challenges, as well as inadequate housing delivery.

Other matters of concern expressed by complainants are refuse collection failures and poor road infrastructure and potholes.
