A grateful Marais Kruger, Mayor of the Garden Route District Municipality, took to social media on Friday, to thank God for prayers answered about rain, in a drought stricken region.

Speaking from the Outeniqua Mountains, Kruger said “it is a good day in the Garden Route, it has rained quiet a lot in the last 24 hours.”

He also reminded residents that water restrictions are still in place, because it is still very dry, and this is only a drop in a bucket.

Between 50 and 75mm of rain was recorded in George on Friday morning.

About 45mm of rain was recorded  in Knysna and between 30 -50mm in  Plettenberg Bay.
