Tributes continue to pour in for Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras.

He was gunned down on Reconciliation Day, the 16th December 2025, in the Johannesburg City Centre.

Friends and fans said he has spoken up about reclaiming Joburg’s hijacked buildings.

It also emerged from several sources online, that he had obtained at least four protection orders.

His latest attempt to reclaim the Zambezi residential building, was to install a biometrics system.

The Stock family said in a statement on Wednesday, they would like to be left to grieve  Warras, without having to appoint a family spokesperson.

The police have not commented on surveillance camera findings in the inner City. They mentioned a man with dreadlocks pulled the trigger four times, injuring Warris on the chest and cheek.

Dada Morero, Joburg’s Mayor said “his departure leaves an irreplaceable void.”

Morero also extended his condolences to Warrick’s children, mother, siblings, extended family, friends, and colleagues in the media and entertainment fields.

Joburg has more than 50 hijacked buildings.

Herman Mashable, ex-Mayor of Joburg, has vowed to bring back the troubled buildings, taken over by syndicates, who rake in millions from such activities.

About 18 buildings, South of Johannesburg, were handed over to their rightful owners, following months of investigations by the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Service department (GFIS), working alongside the South African Police Service (SAPS).
