Two women and a child died in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a double-storey house collapsed in Thulani Street, Doornkop, Soweto.
The child was a year-old.
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) said there were six people inside the house when it collapsed.
EMS teams, who arrived on the scene around 3am, rescued three survivors, before sending them to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
