Three men were rescued from a non-bathing beach in Amanzimtoti on Saturday.

They went surfing at a location not designated for swimming.

Lifeguards from eThekwini Municipality, acted immediately and brought all three men safely back to shore, in partnership with the Metro Police Search and Rescue teams.

The Municipality said this incident should show the serious risks of swimming in areas without lifeguard supervision.

“Residents and visitors are strongly urged to only swim at beaches officially designated for bathing, where lifeguards are on duty and safety measures are in place. Ignoring warning signs and swimming in non-bathing areas places lives in grave danger” said the Municipality in a statement.
