The Swartland Municipality announced the reopening of the N7 on Tuesday afternoon, after a temporary closure, due to a veld fire, between Moorreesburg and Piketberg.
The Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association, said a fire on Houwhoek Mountain remains active.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Riemvasmaak Informal Settlement, Eagle Park, in Cape Town, was flattened by a fire.
JP Smith, MMC of Public Safety in the Western Cape, said disaster management teams counted 106 structures destroyed, and 141 people displaced – most of them single adults.

He also said disaster management teams responded to to 632 vegetation fires, in the past seven days, between Monday, 10 November and Monday, 17 November.
“The strong South Easterly wind that has been very prominent since the start of November has been a contributing factor.”
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against high fire danger conditions over the Swartland Local Municipality, as well as thunderstorms in Mpumalanga and Limpopo (at level 1) on Wednesday, the 19th November.
