A large and deep earthquake measured at 6.5, struck Papua New Guinea’s Goroka City, on Monday.

It was felt as far as Indonesia.

There were no casualties or damage as a result of the quake, and no tsunami warnings issued.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said its epicentre is near Madang in the Madang Province.

According to the United States Earthquake Information Centre (USGS), there were 42 earthquakes across the globe, in the past day, including Japan (5,2) and 5,3, Puerto Rico (3,1) and Argentina.
