There is a longish list of service delivery hiccups in Tshwane due to the rain.
Lindela Mashigo, Spokesperson of the City of Tshwane, said continous rainfall has led to delays in attending to power supply interruptions.
Mashigo also said the City’s technicians are overstretched due to the size of the network they need to cover.
There are power outages in some areas, including Jukulyn and CC Sub outage -where a transformer R master relay is failing to reset Soshanguve.
This follows a 132kV trip at Soshanguve Sub, affecting X-Sub and W-Sub areas.Other outages reported are in NIVS, Kentron, Piet Geers, Brakfontein, Kosmosdal and Olievenhoutbosch, as a result of a132kV trip at Rietvlei Substation.
Other areas are in Region 2 of the City, affecting Soutpan line & Onderstepoort Sub, Hartbeesfontein, Doornpoort, Petropoortlines & Hartbeesfontein Sub Soutpan, Haakdoornboom lines, Soshanguve Sub, Haakdoornboom, Grootvlei, Vastfontein east, Vastfontein west lines & Pyramid Sub.
The City also said its teams are struggling to access some of the informal settlements to service the chemical toilets, due to this week’s downpours.
The City is also experiencing challenges with prepaid vending system (suprima), which are currently offline.
“City’s ICT team is investigating the cause of the vending system not being able to connect with the outside network.”
Water supply interruptions are affecting the Mayville area, the City said, due to the relentless rain, the work on the 150 mm burtst pipe was delayed, leaving certain areas without water, including Mayville, Parktown, Les Marais, Roseville and Eloffsdal
The estimated time of restoration is not yet known.
