About 8 people were arrested by the Operation Vala Umgodi teams, along the N4 Road near a Mall, in Nlspruit, Mpumalanga.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 34, failed to produce valid documentation, permitting them to be in South Africa.
They have been charged with the contravention of the Immigration Act, as well as illegal mining, and are expected to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 August 2025.
Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, said the police continue to appreciate the work done by the team members assigned for Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga.””
