Two journalists passed away this week- Pearl Sebolao,Sowetan’s Executive Editor, and Ike Segola -veteran sub-editor.

The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) said in a statement on Wednesday, their passing has left a void in the newsrooms they helped shape and in the hearts of those who knew and worked alongside them.

Sebolao (50) passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, following a short illness.

She is survived by two children and her sister, Lerato.

SANEF said Segola was one of the invisible yet indispensable figures who shaped the voice and quality of the Sowetan.

Joe Thloloe, a Renowned journalist, called him “one of the behind-the-scenes giants of Sowetan.”
