A tsunami earthquake measured at M7.8 struck Alaska, between the Shumagin Islands and Kodiak Island, on Tuesday evening, at 10:12pm.

No significant damage was caused by the shaking.

Michael West of the University of Alaska said this quake had about 15 times more energy, than the Anchorage earthquake.

Last week, an underwater earthquake triggered a tsunami advisory.

An earthquake measured at 7.4, also struck Russia’s Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamtsjatka. No casualties were reported.
