The police are investigating the tragic deaths of two children, following a shack fire at Naledi Square.
The fire occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 03 December 2025, at around 02:30 am.
The police said in a statement, Sonskyn officers dashed to Naledi Square.
Upon arrival, they were received by a distraught man, who identified himself as the father of the late children.
He said at about 01:30, he woke up to yelling voices of his children, trapped in a burning shack.
He said, he noticed the fire was coming from the kitchen and grabbed the child closest to him, his 10-year-old son, and rushed out of the shack to safety.
Tragically, when he attempted to return for the other two children, the fire had rapidly intensified, making it impossible to re-enter.
The two minor children, a 14-year-old girl and her 04-year-old brother, were engulfed tragically in the blaze.
The names of the deceased minors are withheld out of respect for the family.
