Police arrested 19 men in connection with taxi violence in Limpopo.
Lieutenant -General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, said this is a significant breakthrough in addressing ongoing taxi-related violence between rival taxi associations, operating in the Giyani-Malamulele route.
The men are aged between 29 and 55.
All suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 12 December 2025.
“Lawlessness will never be tolerated, regardless of who is involved. We will deal decisively with anyone who engages in acts of violence, especially during this festive season when our communities rely heavily on public transport” said Hadebe.
She also said the police (SAPS) will continue to be visible in affected areas and urged taxi associations to resolve disputes through lawful, peaceful channels.
The conflict began in October 2025.
