A huge 41.82 carat Type IIb blue diamond, was discovered at the Cullinan mine in South Africa, by Petra Diamonds Limited.

Julia Stone, of Petra Diamonds, said in a statement, the company is in the process of analysing the stone and ascertaining its preferred method of sale.

The Cullinan Mine is known for the recovery of very rare and highly valuable blue diamonds. This is the second gem to be found there, with the first ever, discovered back in April 2021.

There is speculation about just how much the gem is worth, but reports suggest it is valued at anything between $40 -57,5 million.

The biggest diamond ever found in the world, was also at Cullinan mine, back in January 1905.
