At least two roads are closed near Hermanus following heavy downpours which caused floods in the area.
These are the R43 Kleinmond – Gansbaai, the R320 Hemel-en-Aarde, Bergsig Street behind Whale Coast mall closed and other smaller roads.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned against thunderstorms at Level 4 in the Overstrand area.
Some 80mm of rainfall was recorded in Onrus, Stanford–Gansbaai area received between 25 – 30 mm, Hermanus CBD, about 60 mm, Fisherhaven and Hawston, about 185 mm and Kleinmond about 90 mm.
Disaster Management and operational teams are on the ground, assisting with water diversion, opening infrastructure, and distributing sandbags where required.
Several homes were flooded today in Hawston.
Mandeni
Due to inclement weather, the Mandeni Local Municipality advised residents that due to inclement weather conditions on Sunday evening, power was lost to to ResA , ResB , Ndulinde Res1.
As a result, there is no water pumped to the Isithembe Industrial Park and the following wards: 05, 06, 07, 10, 11, 12, 17, and 18.
