The Drakenstein Municipality’s Safety and Community Services said it rescued a porcupine in Vlakkeland, Mbekweni, in Paarl, on Friday.
The porcupine wandered into a stormwater drain.
“By the time our team arrived, the clever creature had moved further into the pipe, making it impossible to reach in the dark” the Municipality said.
It took an entire rescue team about two hours to locate and rescue the porcupine.
“This rescue is a reminder of how deeply we care – not only for our residents, but also for the wildlife that shares our community” said the Municipality in a brief.
