The Department of Water and Sanitation, and the Harry Gwala District Municipality, launched the Bhongweni Water Supply Project, in the Greater Kokstad area, on Tuesday.

The project includes upgraded bulk pipelines, an expanded 2.5ML reservoir, and improved reticulation to serve current households and future developments.

Part of the project is the raising of the Kempsdale Dam wall.

This increases storage capacity to 8 meters.

As a result, about 3,783 households in the Bhongweni township, will receive clean water.
